It’s a team effort. Our unbiased (well maybe a little biased) opinions and thoughts about the equipment we use and the companies that make many of our endeavors possible.
Lexar
I’ve been using the Lexar 1- and 4-gig ProSeries compact flash cards in all my digital shoots. Even after dropping them in 12 inches of powder snow they keep on working. For transfering images between computers and laptops while in the field I use the Lexar USB Jumpdrives. Their 1-gig SD cards sit in my Treo 650 so I can show my portfolio and action videos on the fly. www.lexar.com
Lowepro
All my camera and other senstive gear goes into Lowepro bags. I’m currently using the Street & Field Reporter 500 AW, Topload 70 AW, Omni Trekker Extreme, and DryZone. www.lowepro.com
Benchmade
Whenever I’m in the mountains or even on a shoot in the city, I always carry a Benchmade knife in my kit or my pocket. The two models I own are the Osborne 940 and the Mini-Griptilian. www.benchmade.com
Voile
Split snowboards. That’s right – a snowboard that splits down the middle into a pair of touring skiis. I climbed an 18,481 foot volcanoe (Mt. Elbrus) in Russia on the Voile Split Decision 153. At the summit I snapped the two halves together and boarded down. www.voile-usa.com
Mountain Hardwear
When it comes to keeping warm and dry in the suckiest conditions, I rely on my Mountain Hardwear outwear to keep me cozy. www.mountainhardwear.com
Telenor-USA
When transmitting images and data, as well as making phone calls to my friends from the absolute middle of nowhere, Telenor-USA provides the invisible connection from my satellite phone to everywhere else. GMPCS in Florida is Telenor’s retail arm where I pick up my hard goods like sat phones and BGAN units. www.telenor-usa.com
Osprey Packs
I’ve been a huge fan of Osprey since 1993. While climbing the 22,494 foot Ama Dablam in the Himalays, we were forced to use our packs as haul bags on many sections of the route. Somehow the packs survived being vertically drug across sharp rock over and over again. www.ospreypacks.com
HP-Compaq
The number of laptops I’ve busted or watched drown due to the cold or heat continues to irritate my insurance company. Anyways, after Compaq EVO N600, then Rugged NR 3600, and Compaq Presario R3000. www.hp.com
La Sportiva
These company makes serious shoes for all outdoor activities. From trail running shoes to my Trango Ice Evo’s which are hands down one of the best all around mountaineering boots I’ve ever owned. www.lasportiva.com
Costa Del Mar
It’s all about the Fathom’s; my favorite sunglasses on the planet. www.costadelmar.com
Pros and pro-am photogs getting together to push creative boundaries. That’s the idea behind the Renegade Photo workshops; one-day shoot-fests. Created by a colleague of mine, Martha Blanchfield, these workshops have been a hit. While I have not participated in one (yet …) I can tell by the images being produced that there are high [...]
Here’s a sizzle reel of some of the motion work I’ve done over the last few years in the sports/adventure/documentary genre.
